Toddler Days

This week hasn't been the easiest. I'm not sure if Sydney is sensing the change coming or what, but her tantrums are becoming more and more frequent. Maybe she senses the stress I have of trying to get everything prepared before the baby arrives or she truly is learning more about her own frustrations and how to control (or not control) them. Either way, we are both learning how to handle them.

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle two babies at the same time? Sydney is still so young and I am worried that she will struggle with the concept of sharing Mommy. I've heard some good ideas about making time to spend with Sydney when the new baby is napping and also to encourage her to help me take care of the baby. Any more ideas??? I love hearing your advice!

Enjoy your weekend!

P.S. Some of you have asked about baby names... we are getting closer. We will let you know as soon as we have decided! (Hopefully sooner than later!)

Yes, this is what you think it is...

The girls got away from Denise, Julie and me today... Our first hint should have been that they were quiet. We found them in the bathroom with tons of toilet paper in and all around the toilet. They had half there bodies in the toilet, digging in it! Sydney's hair was completely drenched with TP in her hair! We all laughed so hard b/c it was just so funny! Denise and Julie cleaned the bathroom and I cleaned the girls. It was quite a site!!! The girls were laughing so hard!

Mommy and Me Class

Sydney and I went to a free Mommy and Me class at a local gymnastics club today. It was so much fun! I don't think that Sydney could have had a better time. She loved bouncing on the mats, running around "free as a bird," popping bubbles, flipping over the bars, and playing with the parachute. I wish I had my camera. She was adorable and very happy. She played so hard that toward the end she needed a snack break. At times she favored her little burned hand (wrapped up in tape). She wanted so badly to hang on the rings like the other kids, so she hung on with just one hand. It was precious.

Crummy Wednesday morning

So, I guess I just need to vent. I have had a rough couple of days. First off, on Monday night, Sydney burned 2 fingers on my super hot curling iron. Poor girl. She cried on and off for 3 hours. It is a blister now and I am keeping it wrapped. Luckily it doesn't bother her anymore. I felt so terrible for her. Luke was a hero and stayed with her the entire 3 hours while I had a dinner date with the ladies in our Sunday School class.

Today hasn't been great either. We went to the Ymca like always and since the pool was closed, I thought I would treat Sydney to a new park that we always drive by. I had an odd feeling about the park because it is really big and hardly anyone was there except some odd people walking around. I was suspicious from the beginning. So, I lock the car doors and proceed to the sandy play area. I took Sydney's shoes off since they were filling with sand and because they were new. After awhile, Sydney wanted to go to the swings on the opposite end of the park, so I decided to let her. Well, when we got back, a whole 3 minutes later, her shoes were gone! Someone had stolen them! I was so upset that I started looking around and found a lady that I had since in the area before. She was high-tailing it to the bathrooms.... So, you know that I followed her! I was not going to just stand by and say nothing. I waited for her to get out of the bathroom and confronted her immediately. I asked her if she picked up any little girls' shoes. Of course she acted innocent (and maybe she was), but I didn't believe her.

There was this homeless man that I also highly suspected, but he just downright freaked me out, so I avoided confronting him. I figured that $12 (the cost of the shoes) was not worth getting further mugged.

I drove around looking for the police motorcycle cop that I usually see at this park (that should have been my first hint not to come to this park!). I couldn't find him, so I gave up. I was so upset and Sydney kept saying "shoes?" It was sad.

I guess this is one of those days where I am happy to be leaving a big city. I know that Colorado Springs isn't crime-free by any means, but from being robbed in Boston and always worrying about being robbed here living so close to the highway, I am definitely ready for a smaller city.

Well, thanks for letting me whine. I know that this is just a small thing and life could be so much worse (like poor Virginia getting her car stolen!). Pregnancy seems to make me hyper-sensitive these days. I hope you all are having a good week. Love you all...

Sydney spitting on her knee!

Sydney playing outside

Thursday

So, no big news this week so far. Luke did get his "leave" or time-off approved, so he has this week off. It's been great having him home. Sydney is loving the extra attention. Also, Luke has already finished quite a few projects with the vehicles and house that needed to be done before the baby comes and the move. That has been somewhat of a relief.

I only have about 7 more weeks til the baby is supposed to come. I can't wait for mid-October when my mom comes out! I can't believe how exhausted I feel every single day. I feel like such a pathetic baby. I know it will only get more crazy and tiring when we have 2 kiddos to take care of.

Hope everyone is having a great week. Can you believe it's already September? Still feels like summer here. Hopefully it'll start cooling off soon... although, I know that I have nothing to complain about, it's really not that hot here at all.

Much love,

Trisha
